I have been able to install the .NET 3.0 Framework (using desktop installer)
on an XPe image I've built and tested for a client. I have all feature packs
installed, including the latest Update Rollup 1.0.

However, they would really like to have the .NET 3.0 SP1 installed as well
to leverage some of the WCF functionality. I attempted to install the .NET
3.0 SP1 desktop installer, but came up w/ some errors (see below). Before I
spent time debugging the errors, I thought I would ask if anyone has tried
installing the .NET 3.0 SP1 under XPe, as well as if it's even possible.

So, is it even possible? Is the .NET 3.0 Framework SP1 tied to the .NET 3.5
framework in any way? Any dependencies?

Does Microsoft have plans for releasing another Feature Pack which will
include .NET 3.0 SP1 anytime soon?

Here are some specific errors I'm seeing. Obviously I don't want to use
Windows Update on my XPe image. Even though I'm installing .NET 3.0 SP1
framework, I guess it's upgrading some .NET 2.0 functionality, hence the
reason I'm seeing the errors related to 2.0 below?

First off all I dont have answer to your question, If i did i would
gladly tell you.
However how were you able to install .NET 3.0 (not sp1) would you
mind
forwarding on you log file of the build to my email. This would tell
me what components
you used, (Unless you have custom components.)

Black_13,

The XP Embedded Update Rollup 1.0 has a component containing the
dependencies for installing the .NET 3.0 Framework under XPe.

If you install the Update Rollup 1.0 on your machine hosting your Component
Database, then you will see the .NET 3.0 component show up under Target
Designer. You can then include the .NET 3.0 component, build a new target,
deploy it, then after FBA runs, you will be able to run the .NET 3.0
Framework desktop installation, to install the framework.

Once .NET 3.0 framework was installed, I then attempted to install the 3.0
SP1 framework using the common installer. This, however, failed as I pointed
out.

Would you like my Target Designer build log? I can also zip up the logs

Actually, I just found a 'Install .NET Framework 3.0 XP-Pro Install Package
during FBA' option that is available for the .NET Framework 3.0 Setup
component under 'Settings'.

I was about to create an FBA generic command to run the .NET 3.0
installation during FBA when I stumbled across this.

So, for those of you who add the .NET Framework 3.0 component, don't forget
to check this option under 'Settings' for that component!
