Default Error 1058

Hi,

At this moment i am attempting to turn on the automatic updates but when I
try to start them on services.msc Error 1058 appears. I've tried all the
possible solutions from other posts but nothing seems to work. I have already
scanned for hijackerware and found a couple but deleted them. All the virus
scans and spyware come up with nothing. Prior to this error I have error
0x8DDD0018] and I have followed all of the instructions of the page but
nothing works.

Can anyone help please? I would greatly appreciate it!

thanks in advance!

The symptoms you describe have been posted in various NGs for over a
month now and are *usually* associated with the malware known as
Vundo\Virtumonde. Using Internet Explorer, have the system scanned here:
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/howsafe.htm

Several posters have had success removing the malware and restoring the
Update service with that scan.

Default RE: Error 1058

Hello:

Please be informed that I just faced the exct problem you are talking about
& I was unable to perform Windows Updates due to the fact that it has been
disabled in Windows Services where I was unable to enable or start it either
manually or automatic, getting the error 1058.

It's tru that the software called "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" has totally
solved the problem where I was able to perform my updates successfully, so
many thanks to MowGreen [MVP] for his advise. Yeah it worked.

Regards..

I have the very same problem and I did the scan and it found a bunch of stuff
it said it could not remove. Is there something else out there that may be
able to help me?

I tried to use the scanner but it will not work. I did a disk cleanup and
removed programs but it will not install
