I just went over to a computer which hasnt got a parallel port.
I have a device I havent used in a long time called an Entrega HUB 2U1S1P. I used it as a port replicator a while ago while serial ports were going out of style. It seems to defy googling? Now I need to use it to convert a USB port for parallel use so that I can connect my parallel port printer to a USB port. Does anyone know if I can connect it up for this purpose and if so, what drivers are native in XP which would let this work please? The only drivers I can find are called (somewhat suspiciously) win95 and driverguide reports that these were the original drivers for the device perhaps some years ago: I can't imagine many manufacturers have written windows 95 drivers in a while? No manufacturer's later drivers are around anywhere. Or will it just BS my system if I try to install the 95 drivers? |

you might out of luck with such old hardware. there are companies which
make a specific purpose printer parallel to usb dongle, but in the end, it might cost nearly as much as a new printer which has USB on it. Even if you can get the dongle to work, you will probably need to find printer drivers (the dongle will just report the id of the printer, and will not control the printer itself) and i doubt that you will be able to find anything close to new in that arena either. is such an old printer worth the time and expense? all new consumer printers have usb on them, very few if any continue to have parallel and it is probably cheaper from a time and money perspective to get a new one d -- Please do not send e-mail directly to this alias. this alias is for newsgroup purposes only.
