Hello all,
Back in Feb 2007, I reported a problem with my XP Embedded configuration where I am sometimes unable to enter a password on the Welcome screen. This problem has been reported by general XP users... http://groups.google.com/group/micro...d30e9f448b2705). I have recently returned to this project, and am trying to get together an updated version of this configuration. I am using the Update Rolllup 1, with all of the QFE updates through August 2008 installed in the XPE database. I was hoping that during this long interval some updates would fix this problem, but alas, it still persists. Symptoms are as follows: 1) Sometimes after logging off you are unable to type the password on the welcomes screen. 2) You can use the mouse AND the keyboard to select different users, and the cursor appears in the dialog box where you type the password, but no charactes appear. 3) If you press "Ctrl+Alt+Del" twice, you can successfully log in using the domain-style login box. Notes on the configuration: * Winlogon * Automatic logon is enabled, so don't know if it ever happens at power up. * Very large build, nearing XP-pro emulation size. * Some components are disabled after resolving dependencies, notably, IIS and Outlook. Thanks in advance for any ideas. SteveS SteveDOTschilzATsbcglobal.net |
