Default How to apply SP3 to an Asus A8N SLI-Premium Mainboard based WinXP?

I am currently running WinXP + SP2 which is installed on a hardware with
Mainboard Asus A8N SLI-Premium.

Some month ago WinXP Service Pack 3 was released by MS.
However within a short time it turned out that there are heavy problems with this
SP 3 when applying it to a WinXP based on the mentioned Mainboard.

In the meantime some bugfixes resp. work around were released (as far as I heard).

Are these bugfixes/work around reliable?

Is there a detailed step-by-step tutorial on how to install SP3 WITH bugfix
on an existing SP2 system?
And how to fall back to SP2 in case that the upgrade is not working?

Paolo

Erm, I think you missed the left turn a while back.

I installed SP3 without any problems (running as we speak) on this
SLI Premium system.

....and this has what, exactly, to do with Linux? (I'm only asking because you
crossposted to comp.os.linux.hardware, even though your Followup-To suggests
that you knew that wasn't an appropriate newsgroup for your question.)

Nope.

You're getting closer to a permanent solution though, seeing as how you
cross-posted this to a linux group.

Come on over to our party - the food's great and the beer is free.

Since you posted to comp.os.linux.hardware you know in your heart what
you need to do. Install a Linux Distro of your choice, I prefer Fedora,
then if you really need a couple of Windows programs you can install
VMware Server on top of Linux and then install a copy of XP on that and
apply all of the updates including SP3. Because it's a VM you won't have
any compatibility problems. You also won't have to worry about Windows
security issues nearly as much. Just do all of your web access and e-mail
from Linux and limit your web interactions on the Windows VM to a few
trusted sites like Microsoft Updates and Intuit. Backing up VMs is
trivial, just copy the directory somewhere. If Windows gets broken or
infected all you have to do is restore your backup copy of the VM.

But _you_ did not post to a linux group - or if you did - multiposted...?
