Have WinXP Home SP2. I can get an IP address over wireless card to access
point. I can then ping anything. However, I cannot view any websites with
either Firefox 3 or IE 7. If I reboot in safe mode with networking, I CAN
browse any website.

Last week, I was unable to connect to my wireless access point. Installed
Norton 360 and after removing lots of spyware, etc., and cleaning registry
was able to connect and get to the web. But now I can't get to the web
anymore. I don't believe I changed anything prior to the web problem. I've
browsed around the web but haven't found anything that seems to fit this
problem. I tried a winsock fix and looked at MTU but haven't gotten it fixed.

Any ideas? Thanks.

P.S. Both IE and Firefox are trusted programs in the Norton firewall.

Are you able to Access the Router/Modem Webpage?
Try to run the setup again.
Power the Router/Modem for about a minute or so and aslo the PC then Turn ON
the Router and wait for a minute or so then Power Up the PC and try to
connect.
Did you assign your Wireless Network Adapter as trusted or allowed access?

Did you checked the TCP/IP properties and made sure the machine getting Auto
IP address and DNS auto not assigned Static IP address.

Yes, I can connect to the router home page. But I don't see what good that
will do. I have a DHCP IP address and can ping. Therefore I assume my
connection is a 'full' connection and that I should be able to use a browser
to view web pages. But I am unable to connect.

I can connect to my router home page. But I don't see any reason to redo
the setup. Since I'm connected to it and can ping, it would seem that
something else is preventing me from browsing the web.

Yes, my TCP/IP settings are such that I get an IP address automatically and
DNS server address. Nothing is assigned a static IP.

Hi
Make sure that Norton is not blocking something that is needed for the
Connection.
Go beyond Winsock and try this whole process.

If nothing helps it means that the Spywares created too much damage in the
core of the OS and you probably need to reformat and install the OS from
scratch.

I discovered that a task 'vsmon' was still running. I used to have
CA/Zonelabs installed but had just switched to Norton 360. Upon further
investigation, it looks like the uninstall of Zonelabs was incomplete. I
still had a bunch of DLLs and some items in Registry. Deleted them and now I
can browse the web.

Additional "trust" settings may be required in Norton. You may need to
"trust" the default Internet gateway IP address (usually the router's
LAN IP address) and the wireless network SSID name.
