Default Hibernate function not working...

I have a Dell Dimension 4600 with a P4 and 2 gb of RAM, running Windows XP
home edition, SP3.

I have tried using the hibernate function but it does not respond. I have
gone into the power options settings and confirmed that hibernate mode is
enabled. Yet when I try to put my machine into a state of hibernation, it
does nothing (I'm using the Start/Turn Off Computer/<shift> Hibernate
function.

Thanks to the community in advance for any suggestions or advice. It's
appreciated...

Mark

Default RE: Hibernate function not working...

I also encounter a problemwith the hibernate function. When I tried to set a
time period of 3 hours to hibernate from the power options properties, it
won't hibernate. Not just my hibenate function, but other power schemes like
turn off hard disks and system standby also not working. But from the Start
menu, when I select standby, it's working fine.

Please help. Thank you

Have you checked with your machine's manufacturer for an updated BIOS
version? You may also want check any applicable BIOS settings to determine if
there is possibly a conflict as a result of those settings.
