Default Checking File System at Every Startup

A while ago I used a program to clean out the loose ends in the registry -
Win XP Pro, SP-3. Since that time whenever the computer boots the operating
system brings up the two-tone blue screen and gives me 10 seconds to press a
key, or it goes into an hour-long check of the file system. I've already let
it run to completion, but it still brings up the file system check each time
it boots.

Anyone have a recipe as to where to go in the operating system, or system
registry to fix this?

Thanks a bunch!
