Okay, this is probably a simple fix, but I've used all my simple tricks with
no success. I recently reinstalled Windows XP Pro and now I'm back to SP3 and IE 7, as I was before the reinstall. I've downloaded Chinese and Japanese language support files and I can view most of those websites just fine (long enough to find the button marked "English," anyway!) except for one site. It's www.shinashi.com--I'm a fan of MMA and this is a favorite site--and for some reason, whenever I visit the site, I get a blank window and under "View," the "auto-select" option is checked and one of three Japanese languages is selected (Japanese--Shift-JIS; Japanese--Auto-Select; or EUC). The site gives me a blank in everything except when I select Unicode, but then I get squares as placeholders rather than Japanese text. What in the world is going on? Mozilla, which I installed about ten minutes ago, doesn't give me that grief on the same site, so I think it's a matter of browser vs. website, but I can't figure out what it is. It won't resolve even if I use really filthy language, either, so I'm stumped. Any clues? Thanks in advance! |
