Hi
I have enabled incoming VPN (PPTP) connections to my XP pro PC and checked the allow callers to see my local area network but I cant see beyond the PPTP server IP. First problem was the Assign TCP/IP addresses automatically using DHCP did not pass through to my router for home LAN IP address ranges so I am using Specifiy TCP/IP addressess outside of my DHCP server addresses! Any ideas how I can get the XP PC to route properly onto the home LAN behind the PPTP server PC? Thanks Steve. |

XP is not designed to be a router. However, you my try to enable IP routing.
routing issues on vpnResolutions: 1) if you have two NICs in the VPN server, you may need to enable IP Routing. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Tcpip\Parameters\IPEnableRouter = 1 on XP client PC 1. network connections->pptp client properties->networking->Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)->Properties->Advanced->general->"use default gateway on remote network" UNCHECKED 2. route add 192.168.95.0 mask 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.2 Still cant see behind the PPTP server!!! > > -- > Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE > Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on > http://www.ChicagoTech.net > How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on > http://www.HowToNetworking.com > > > "Steve Mowbray" <steve_mowbray@hotmail.com> wrote in message > news:j5CdnRfpuvjMn6janZ2dnUVZ8tmhnZ2d@bt.com... >> Hi >> >> I have enabled incoming VPN (PPTP) connections to my XP pro PC and >> checked the allow callers to see my local area network but I cant see >> beyond the PPTP server IP. >> >> First problem was the Assign TCP/IP addresses automatically using DHCP >> did not pass through to my router for home LAN IP address ranges so I am >> using Specifiy TCP/IP addressess outside of my DHCP server addresses! >> >> Any ideas how I can get the XP PC to route properly onto the home LAN >> behind the PPTP server PC? >> >> Thanks >> Steve. >> > |
