Default javascript in ie7

I am running Win XP with SP2 and IE7 and have recently found that I have a
problem running javascripts in IE7 for some users, including one with
administrative privileges, but not for others. The scripts seem to work okay
in FoxFire for all users. The internet options and JRE settings seem to be
the same for all users. I would appreciate any ideas as to where I should
look for a resolution to the problem. Thanks for any help.

You must realize that JavaScript http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JavaScript
and Java - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_(programming_language) that
are TWO different things. Scripts may not work due to some browser
security settings.

I realize that Java and Javascript are different. I also expect that
security settings in the browser could prevent scripts from running, but my
inspection of the settings in the IE7 browser for the different users
indicates they are the same. It may well be that I have overlooked
something. It is also puzzling that the scripts will run in Firefox but not
IE7/

Thanks for your suggestion.
