Recently had to re-install XP Pro, because Windows would not boot.
Start/Turn Off/Shift/Hibernate puts the system in Hibernation. When I power back on the Resume Windows cursor advances normally. At end of cursor travel the display goes into power saving mode (black screen, amber power indicator) but the power indicator on PC is still green. I assume XP has returned from hibernation but I have no display, therefore no use of the PC. When I boot normally XP is fine, video, sound, mouse, & keyboard are OK, all programs function. Device manager says display, card, & driver are all OK. No yellow exclamation marks any where. Gateway tech says I have a bad video card. Seems too coincidental with re-install of OS, but he thinks it's the card. Before I buy a new card, any thoughts? |
