Default bsod

Hi, I have just recently started getting blue screen errors on my laptop.
It seems to happen randomly. First time I recall it happening was while
trying to defrag the HD. I know it also happened while Scandisk and WMPlayer
were working.

This is the error I get.

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

***STOP: 0X0000000A (0X96B266CC, 0X00000002, 0X00000000, 0X804DA6DB)

Thanks for any helpful advice.

Scandisk in xp is CHKDSK C: /F or /R done in cmd,& neither can run in
windows explorer, they run on pc start-up.One could run,CHKDSK C: But this
is read only mode no repairs are done..Either way,if you run some 3rd party
garbage (Scandisk),& it does run in explorer, youre defeating its purpose by
running anything else, specially WMP as it uses alot of resources to run by
itself.

I get to Scandisk after I right click on C: then properties. It is in XP.
I don't run it while other programs are running either. I may have mis-led
you by the way I phrased my type. To clarify, I have gotten the blue screen
errors three or four times, while only running one program. Never had trouble
before with these tasks.
